The gate and the rock
Gate implies freedom, broadening of vistas, exploring new horizons.
Rock connotes complacency, security, happy with the present.
Some people are attracted to the gate, break out of their boundaries.
Others prefer the security and safety that the rock affords them.
Both parties must learn to coexist and be sensitive to the needs of the other.
The gate must remain accessible to those who crave escape, yet the rock must remain in place for those desirous of security.

Great post Dovi!
I think, that in addition for each being sensitive of each other, each needs to learn fron each other, thus each creating a synthesis in ther lives. Although, as always, each one will have a dominant character, neverthelss it is imperative that each remains flexible enough to allow small glimpses in their lives of the other.

question is whether as a result of true empathy with the other will each gradually change and become closer in behaviour to the other, or is this a separate peula?
perhaps we can connect this with the difference between sympathy and empathy, vakm'l.
